Sunny Days in the Sunshine State

Hi friends!! The fam and I just got back from a little Memorial Day weekend getaway to Siesta Key, Florida! It’s always nice to spend a few days getting Vitamin D and tan lines - or in my case, burn lines - in. Except, of course it’s nice in Chicago the minute we leave for Florida, but isn’t that always how things go?

While it was a quick trip, it still had its fair share of surprises and fun moments - and you know I can’t have any of those without a Sincerely, Sharon post. So without further ado, here are some notes and recs from our travels to the Sunshine State!

  • Boy was it sunny! We knew May in FL was going to be hot (obviously, that’s why most people book a trip to FL in the summer) but we didn’t expect a scorching anomaly weekend with temps in the 90s! If you know me, I’m a girl who loves the seasons (it’s why I tolerate Chicago winters), so the heat definitely took some getting used to!

  • We stayed at The Beach Club Resort and it had perfect access to the beach (like a 2min walk, which you really can’t beat)

  • Lovebugs! Everywhere! These bugs travel in pairs and peak in FL around April/May. They’re fascinating creatures; they’ll swarm on your door one day and then be completely gone the next. Let’s just say day one of our vacation had a lot of love bug friends but they were gone by day 3 (not that we’re complaining)

  • If you love live music, check out Live 88 in Bradenton! This piano bar was a super fun nighttime outing to hear some great music and get some pretty epic drinks that actually lit up!

  • In terms of food, our favorite spots were

Tripletail, Drift, and Azario Barrel House Bistro. Finally, you NEED to check out Jeremiah’s Ice, a unique blend of Italian ice and soft serve ice cream that was a highlight from our trip!

That’s really all my thoughts from this trip, since it really was just the perfect blend of relaxing on the beach & a couple fun nights on the town in St. Armands + Siesta Key.

Despite it just being a few days, I’m leaving rejuvenated and ready to tackle the 9-5 grind again. Highly recommend taking that getaway this summer so you all feel a bit of that too.

Until the next one!

Sincerely,

Sharon
